Hook:

Model these greetings in the language being taught, e.g., Spanish, German, Japanese, Chinese, etc.

Introduce or review greetings in other settings, e.g., meeting someone during school lunch, starting a new job, meeting a new teammate, etc.

Have students work with a partner to practice introducing themselves in the target language.
Activity:
- Using the sample comic as a guide, have students create a comic in which they introduce themselves to another character in the target language.

Have each character use a greeting and a question.

Students may choose to change the setting of the comic or add more characters. Have them think about how that might change the conversation.

Facial expressions and actions should the conversation.

Have students show their finished comics and read them aloud.
Differentiation:
- Allow students to use speech-to-text feature.
- Allow students to use the voiceover feature to read their comics aloud.
- Allow students to work in pairs or groups as needed.
- Provide a printed copy of the sample comic.
