Have you ever felt overwhelmed with too much school work or chores?

Have you ever fallen behind in something and didn’t know how to catch up?

Discuss some of the ways students have tried to be more successful with time management.
Activity:

Read and discuss sample Comic 2.

Have students choose one of the time management strategies to use for an entire week.

Have each student create a comic explaining a time management strategy including a few steps they can use to implement the strategy, e.g., for the “Use a timer” strategy; students can write down:

“Get a timer from the store.”

“Try 20 minute increments and increase time if needed.”
-
“Take 10 minute breaks in between focus periods.”

“Ask my mom to remind me to set the timer at home for homework.”

Have students discuss their comics and reflect on the following:

What went well with the time-management tool? Why?

What was challenging with the time-management tool? Why?

Why is time management important for me?

Differentiation:
- Allow students to use the speech-to-text feature.
- Allow students to use the voiceover feature to read their comics aloud.

Print out the example comic for individual students.

Use the Think-Pair-Share strategy during whole group discussion.

Allow students to work in pairs or groups as needed.
- Provide a list of time management strategies.
