Know Before You Start: Students should be familiar with brain terminology.
Hook:
- Discuss the parts of the human brain and their functions.
Activity:

Out loud or on paper, have students answer the questions found in the sample comic. (Answers below.)

When finished, have them create a comic to explain how that part of their brain supports them in their learning.

Optional Activity: Print the comic to create brain terminology flash cards.

- Ask students to reflect on why knowing the parts of our brain and their roles are important for us as social and emotional learners, especially as we grow.

- Print out flashcards for students and pre-teach definitions and functions.
- Allow students to use the voiceover feature to read their comics aloud.
