Hook:

Read and discuss the sample comic. Is the student correct?

In pairs, have students find other ways to show 822. They may use numbers or pictures. Have them share their answers with the class.

Show students how to write 822 in expanded notation.
Activity:

List several numbers on the board.

Using the sample comic as a guide, have students create a comic depicting one of the numbers in a different way.
Closure: Share and discuss student comics with the class. Are there any other ways to depict the numbers shown in each comic?
Differentiation:

Provide a visual resource for students to represent numbers in a new way.

Allow students to use the speechtotext feature as needed.
