Jason Jorgensen has been a technology-loving Social Studies teacher at the Montauk Educational Center (IS 223K) for over 20 years. Jay has taught ELLs in his position and tries to give his students the opportunity to learn and develop skills in an environment that promotes taking chances and having no fear of making mistakes. He believes that student voice and student choice are very important to the success of all students in his class. In addition, Jay believes that creativity is the key to learning and making those options available to his students will help them learn and be more successful.

Panama Canal Debate

Students will practice their research and debate skills by creating a comic which explains their perspective on a historic event.

The Great Depression

Students will learn about the Great Depression and demonstrate their understanding of this economic downfall.
